Water or Sewage which Backs Up through a Sewer or Drain

This coverage is normally excluded on a homeowners insurance policy.  However, many companies will offer an endorsement to add this coverage back on. This can be a very important coverage.  If this situation were to occur in your home, it could be a horrible, messy situation to have to deal with without this coverage.

Here is the definition of this coverage:

"Water or sewage which backs up through sewers or drains, or which enters into or overflows from within a sump pump, sump pump well, or any other system designed to remove subsurface water which is drained from the foundation area."
